Radiant Star by Ann LeckieMy rating: 1 of 5 stars
I normally love Ann Leckie's books, but I could not get into this one. Part of that is that this is written in omniscient POV, and I am not a fan of head-hopping. Also, despite being set in the Imperial Radch universe, the worldbuilding felt thin. Finally, I could not figure out what the heck the titular object/MacGuffin the Radiant Star actually was (which probably would have been answered further on, but I didn't get that far). I persevered for nearly a hundred pages, but in the end, I didn't care enough about any of these people to continue.
Which is okay. Not every author's book is for every reader, and I love the original Imperial Radch trilogy enough to make up for this.
